Very fine and important floorstanding regulator with calendar and equation of time, signed 'Robin au Galeries du Louvre, France circa 1790/1800.

The non-striking timepiece has a duration of 3 months. It is powered by means of a rope with a rectangular weight and a counterweight. Both weights are hidden from the front sight view behind the door styles, which benefits the perfect harmony and symmetry of the clock.

Case and movement are in excellent condition. The cabinet is made of oak with mahogany veneered, consists of 3 separate parts and is closed by an invisible lock.

Robert Robin was one of the main French makers at the time of King Louis XVI and worked in Paris. He was born in 1741, became master in 1767 and died in 1799 (l'an VII of the republican era.)
