The work on view at ARCO Madrid 2013 covers the historical avant-gardes, classic contemporary and emerging art. Around 160 galleries from over 30 countries will be showing paintings, sculpture, installations, photography, video, new media, drawings, multiples and editions.
The 32nd edition of the International Contemporary Art Fair is to have Turkey as guest of honour. A selection of galleries made by the curator, writer and professor, Vasif Kortun, will bring to Madrid, in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy in Spain, contemporary artistic products from this active emerging market. After the success of last year's edition, ARCOmadrid 2013's Solo Projects programme will, for the third year running, showcase Latin American artists. Focus Latin America will again be a space for researching artistic creation in Latin America, with the help of a team of curators working with a double purpose: identifying the cartography of the newest and most important ideas from the continent, and as a panel of curators examining all the proposals sent by the galleries. This section symbolises ARCOmadrid’s role as a gateway to Europe for Latin American art.
