Description

A Pair of Dishes in Blue Delftware

This pair of Delft Blue Dishes is decorated in the manner of the Oriental kraak porcelain in the Wan-li style. The rim is decorated in panels which alternating depict a sitting figure in a landscape and a stylized floral decoration. The center depicts three oriental figures sitting in a porch in a landscape. Typical for Kraak porcelain with a panelled rim-decoration is that the panels continue to the centre. The Delft artist has copied this specific element as well.
