Description
This plate is dated on the bottom; 1693. The plane is decorated with a Chinoiserie decoration dating from about 1640 in which the customary ducks have been replaced by a peacock. The decoration of the rim has also been modernized. The divisions have been replaced by a continuous ribbon of flower motives. Dated Delftware is rare. On the reasons why this specimen has been dated, we can only guess. Nevertheless, this plate gives us an idea of the taste of the period.
