Description

An octogonal plaque in delftware with blue “Chinoiserie” decoration. The plaque has two suspension holes in the rim. A landscape of flowers, birds and two banded hedges is surrounded by a rim of flower patterns.

In the 18th century the Delftware plaques evolve from square and rectangular tiles to works of art in their own right. The shapes get more variety and get more imaginative. Plaques like these were cast in moulds.
