Nr. 172. Art Deco Atmos clock, high model, nickel, J. L. Reutter no 3043, France ca. 1930.
Nickel case, transparency through the four glasses. Clock dial with Art Deco styled Arabic numerals. On the back signed ‘Brevet J.L. Reutter, S.G.D.G., Made in France’ and no 3043. Working: The Atmos clock contains a drum with a U-shaped tube containing mercury and a gas. Due to temperature changes a thermics develops in the drum and causes the axle with the U-shaped tube to oscillate to and fro. Because of the continuous changes in temperature and atmospheric pressure there is a continuous oscillation witch causes the movement to roll permanently, we have a ‘Pendule Perpetuele’. The invention was the work of the French engineer Jean Léon Reutter. An invention related to the laws of thermodynamics. The clock is in a perfect condition. Very exclusive Art Deco model HWD 33x21x14 cm.
