Description
No.15. Atmos clock, Chinese lacquer, J.L. Reutter, France circa 1930. Movement in Chinese lacquer, metal cabinet in Art Deco style. Case signed. Silvered dial with Roman numerals, signed ‘Atmos Pendule Perpetuelle, made in Paris’, Brevets J. L. Reutter’. With the original Atmos clockwork. The drum of the clock contains a mercury- and gas tube. Changes in weather conditions in particular temperature causes volumes changes. This generates a thermic in the barrel. The fluctuations and rotations are collected and the energy is used to drive the movement continuously. It is therefore called ‘Pendule Perpetuele’. The invention was made by a French engineer, Jean Léon Reutter. HxBxD 24x19x14 cm Price on request.
