No 25. A very fine Empire gilt and patinated bronze mantle clock, by Ravrio, Paris ca. 1820.

A rare and important Empire patinated and gilt bronze figural mantle clock. Movement housed in a magnificent bronze case signed Ravrio Bronzier, Horloger a Paris. Women in Empire styled dress flanked by a putty in fornt of the clockdial. Figure modelled after an antique statue of Cleopatra. Height 70 cm, width 41 cm, depth 27 cm. André-Antoine Ravrio (1759, Paris – 4 octobre 1814, Paris) maître founder in 1777, was amongst the most celebrated of the fournisseur officiel to Emperor Napoleon. In 1814, Louis-Stanislas Lenoir-Ravrio (d. 1846); succeeded to the family bronze-making business and participated at the ‘ Musée Industriel exhibition’ of 1819. Their work was commended as a 'manufacture: d'un excellent goût'.
