Description
An important and attractive French Empire skeleton regulator with astronomical indications, circa 1800.
14.5 cm enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals, fine gilt hands and blued sweep hand. Above the main dial there is a finely enameled subsidiary for moonphase with days of the mooncycle adorned with a landscape with a vulcano. Below there are two skeletonized subsidiaries, one for day of the week with day sign and the other for date. The 8-day spring driven movement with pinwheel escapement and countwheel half hour striking on a bell. The fine gridiron pendulum is knife-edge suspended and has beat adjustment to the crutch. The inverted Y-shaped frame placed on two marble blocks with ormolu mouldings. The whole mounted on a moulded black marble base raised on two ormolu bun feet.
