A skeleton clock, by M. Boty Lefebvre à Liège, ca. 1800.

Two pillar clock signed on the enameled dial which has an exposed center, M.Boty Lefrbvre à Liège. In the center sweep seconds, minute, hour and date hands. Note knife edge suspension to the pendulum, pinwheel escapement, quarter strike all signs of the fine quality of Lefebre’s workmanship. Clock is mounted on a black marble base. Style and quality similar to the skeleton clocks made by Hubert Sarton.

Information Les Boty ( Bôty, Botty). Nicolas Boty was ‘maître horloger’ in 1770. One of his sons Mathieu-Joseph had a workshop in 1799. He was married in 1816 to Maria-Ida Lefèvre. He worked as clockmaker in association with his father in 1788. Later an association with Lefèbvre is apparent (Lefèbvre, à Chênee and J.J. Lefèbvre).
