Description
An attractive Dutch 'Groningen Stoelklok' wall clock of nice proportions with striking and date, circa 1740.
polychrome painted dial with Roman numerals and deities spandrels on a gilt ground, brass hands with alarm disc and date aperture above, weight driven 15-hour brass posted movement with verge escapement and countwheel half hour striking and alarm on a bell, pierced gilt lead ornaments surmounting the dial and the polychrome painted bracket with urns to the sides
