Description

a Netherlandish oak tresoor or credens, ca.1540-50

A quarter sawn oak tresoor or credens (sideboard). It is a Brabant cupboard which is, in terms of construction, hinges and locks and design still gothic but in terms of profiling already Renaissance. That's the reason why we dated this extraordinary cupboard this early, 1540-50. This early type of furniture from the Netherlands is extremely rare, but also the fact that it has never been restored is very exceptional.
