Description
Impressive « Médailler de Louis XV » commode. Rich gilded bronze decorations depicting garlands, medals, rubans, female figures and ram heads on top of the curved feet. The 2 doors are hiding 4 sober mahogany drawers. The outside veneer is completely made of mahogany and the marble top is white Carrara. French fabrication late 19th century.
Littr. The original model created by Gauderaux Antoine circa 1738 is exhibited in the King's cabinet at Château de Versailles. It was intended to contain the Medal collection of Louis XIV & the young Louis XV.
