Description
an oak Renaissance cabinet on stand with figures representing Virtues, ca.1630-1650
A cabinet on stand made of oak in the Northern Netherlands, Province of Holland. It is a Renaissance cabinet made in the tradition of the Hollandisch fourdoor cupboards with statues. In this case it is a wedding gift because in the frieze there are lovesymbols such as a burning hart and two foulded hands. Against the styles are three Virtues: Faith, Vigour and Economy and on the door panels: Hope and Love, they all are Virtues which are important for a good wife! On the drawer we see a hunting party. De side panels show Summer and Harvest.
