Description
A pair of candelabra in white Carrara marble and fire-gilt bronze on oblate round legs. In the Neoclassical period of Louis XVI the white Carrara marble was very much appreciated. Designers were inspired by archaeological discoveries of classical Greek and Roman sculptures in white marble. They created objects of “noble simplicity” out of the Carrara marble with its austere beauty. These candelabra are a fine example of Neoclassicism.
