A pair of very fine Louis XV three-armed wall lights. The objects are formed with acanthus leafs that gracefully intertwine. The bobêches seem to be naturally sprouting from the branches. The objects are formed out of the organic shapes in a loose and natural way. These frizzly acanthus-appliques were seen as the epitome of Rococo in the mid-18th century. A similar wall light can be found in H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschl’s Vergoldete Bronzen, volume I image 2.11.18, p. 143 The shape of these wall-lights and particularly the concealed bobêches look very similar to contemporary specimen of the same period by François-Thomas Germain in the Getty museum in Malibu and a Chandelier by Jean Jacques Caffieri in the Wallace Collection in London.
