Description
A pair of gilt bronze wall lights with three branches. The base is shaped as a thyrsus. On top a putto playing the flute. The thyrsus and the branches are held together by a bow that is partly covered by leaves. The branches are connected with beaded garlands that end in rosettes.
Jean Hauré was bronze-smith and merchant in bronzes. He supplied works of, among others, Thomire, Galle and Gouthière to the French Court. On the base of evidence found in archives, Ottomayer and Pröschel assume that Hauré supplied a pair of wall lights with the same symbols (thyrsus, boy with double flute) to the French Court.
