Description
An inkstand with a distinct Venetian design. In the late 16th and early 17th century inkwells like this one, with a sitting or standing putto on the lid and female torsos as legs, were manufactured in ample quanitities in Northern Italy. A variation of similar size is to be seen in the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza in Madrid.
