Description
H. 98 cm.
This elegant sculpture depicts a saint standing on a low octagonal base, wearing the ‘mitre pretiosa’ and affluent Episcopal vestments. This sculpture is attributed to sculptor Hendrik Roesen, who had a workshop in Leuven at the end of the 15th century. Distinctive stylistic qualities are the typical facial characteristics and the draperies at the seam of the alb and in the chasuble. Notable is that the backside of the sculpture features two unidentified flower-shaped guild- or masters marks.
