Description
An inkstand on four gilt bronze claw-shaped legs. The trunk is finely veneered with ebony and birch. On the sides gilt bronze ornaments. The inkstand has a drawer with a gilt bronze knob. The top holds an inkwell, a sander and two sponge cups. The four holes set off with gilt bronze edges are meant to hold quills.
The inkstand can be moved with the gilt bronze handle with the pinecone knob in the middle. Inkstands like these were probably used on desks where two people sat at opposite sides.
