a Baroque ornamental fork, knife and spoon with putti and fruit made of ivory and gilt silver.
a Baroque ornamental fork, knife and spoon with putti and fruit made of ivory and gilt silver. The fork and spoon are made of gilt silver. The handles are carved in ivory and represent putti playing and climbing in a fruit festoen. All three handles are different. This kind of cover is made in particular in the South of Germany where there was an important tradition of ivory carvers. The exceptional high quality of the carving proves that it was made by an important master. The name of Balthasar Permoser seems, also because of the date, obvious. In the collection of he Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam is also a fork and spoon that is attributed to Permoser
