Alfred Stevens was born in Brussels (Belgium) in 1823, he died in Paris (France) in 1906. Pupil of the Academy in Brussels and he continued at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, he settled in Paris. Painter on home-scenes with elegant ladies, landscapes and marines. Brother of Joseph Stevens, the wellknown painter of animals. In 1889 he worked together with Gerve to paint for the Worldfair an anormous "Panorama du Si�cle" (View on the 19th century). At the end of his career he only painted marines ad portraits. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium. Works in possession of various Belgian museums.
