Jacques Carabain was born in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) in 1834, he died, presumably, in Brussels (Belgium) in 1892. In 1880 he obtained the Belgian nationality. Carabain started his study at the Academie of Fine Arts in Amsterdam and completed his education in Brussels. He travelled extensively in France, Italy, Germany and Austria. In his paintings of cityviews, landscapes and architecture this international influence clearly shows. His work is to be found in museums in Brussels, Ieperen (Belgium) and Prague.
