Professor H.J. Wolter was born in Amsterdam in 1873, he died in Amersfoort 1952 (Holland). Pupil of the Drawing Academy in Antwerp, Belgium, directed by A. de Vriendt and Fr. van Leemputten. He painted, made drawings, etches and lithographs of cattle, city-views, harbours, interiors of factories, nudes, portraits etc. H.J. Wolter was a very gifted artist. He was professor at the Academy in Amsterdam. Lived and worked in Amsterdam, Haarlem, Antwerpen, Amersfoort, Leusden and Laren. Received the Willink van Collenprize in 1904. Works of H.J. Wolter to be found at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam, Zeeuws Museum Middelburg and Singer Museum in Laren.
