Jean Baptiste Armand Guillaumin was born in 1841 in Paris, where he died on June 26th, 1927. From early childhood on he painted and made drawings. Already in 1863 he had an exhibition in the Salon des Réfusés. He attended the Académie Suisse. Here he met Cézanne and Pisarro. Guillaumin was a very talented artist. He belonged to the first group of impressionist artists. In 1891 he won the -for those days enormous- sum of onehundred million French Francs!! From this time the travelled all through France and Europe. In 1904 he stayed in The Netherlands (region North Holland) for over two months. Painter of genre pieces, nudes, portraits, landscapes with figures and cattle, city-view and still-lifes.
