Cornelis Kimmel, born in Middelburg, the Netherlands on March 23rd, 1804, where he died on January 3rd 1877. Pupil of J.H. Koekkoek, of the Artschool (Tekenakademie) in Middelburg and of P. Hanselaere in Gent (Belgium). C. Kimmel was a painter of landscapes and portraits (also miniatures). He lived and worked in Middelburg where he was appointed to the Akademie. Exhibitions in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. His work can be found the the Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg.
