Maria Elisabeth Georgina "Lizzy" Ansingh was born on March 13th 1875 in Utrecht, she died on December 14th 1959 in Amsterdam. She got her first lessons from het aunt, Therese Schwartze and than she studied at the National Acadamy in Amsterdam, directed by Nic van Waay, A. Alebé and C.L. Dake. She painted, made drawings and lithographs of still lifes, portraits, dolls, animals and townviews. She belonged to the so called "Amsterdamse Joffers" (Joffer meaning unmarried lady). Works of Lizzy Ansingh in The Hague Municipality Museum, Singer Museum Laren, Dordrecht Museum, Central Museum Utrecht and the National Collection.
