Hendrik Johannes Haverman was born in Amsterdam, October 23rd, 1857, he died in The Hague August 11th, 1928. At the young age of 16 he was a student of the decorativepainter H.J. Plaat jr. and he studied at the Art School of Amsterdam, Antwerp and Brussels. He worked together with painter Nic. van Waay. Havenman travelled through France, Italy and Spain. He was a painter, watercolourist, made drawings and etchings of portraits and figures. During his life H.J. Haverman was famous for his portraits.
