Rodolphe Wytsman, born Termonde 1860, died Linkebeek 1927. He was the son of a sophisticated middle-class amily. His father used to receive writers, artists and politicians in their home. At the age of 11 young Wytsman decided to study antique sculpture at the Academy in Ghent and later he had painting and drawing lessons. He found the academic access to art somewhat restricted, he was more attracted to pein-air painting: landscapes featuring the banks of the rivers, flowers and fields. In 1886 he married Juliette Trullemans, she was a painter of flowers.AS thenfirst World War began they were forced to leave Belgium and to settle in the Netherlands.
