The American anthropologist, Richard Nonas has spent long periods among the Canadian Eskimos and in the deserts of Mexico, far from Western civilization. The environmental sculptor of international fame, returned to Italy after being away for almost thirty years. Working with materials from nature such as wood, stone and metal, the artist has remained true to his beliefs at the cost of consciously disassociating himself from the contemporary art world.
