Govert van Emmerik was born in Dordrecht (Holland) 1808, he died in Hamburg (Germany) in 1882. Student of P. Hofman and P.J. Schotel.Painter of sea- and riverviews with tallships. In 1852 he left for Hamburg where he spent de rest of his life. Exhibitions in The Hague and Amsterdam. Works in possesion of Museum Dordrecht and the National Historical Marine Museum in Amsterdam.
