Hermanus Koekkoek, born in Middelburg 1815, died in Haarlem 1882. Holland. Important Dutch painter. He got painting instructions from his father, J.H. Koekkoek (1778-1851). Hermanus Koekkoek, painter of sea- mainly the "Zuiderzee" and riverviews. He won a golden medal in an exhibition at Arti et Amicitiae, Amsterdam in 1875. Hermanus Koekkoek had exhibitions in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. Works by H. Koekkoek in possession of the Museum Fodor and the Rijskprentenkabinet in Amsterdam, Gronings Museum, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam and others.
