Harmen Hermanus "Harmen" Meurs, born in Wageningen January 17th 1891, he died in Ermelo in November 1964. Pupil of Louis Raemaekers and A.F.H. Falise, of the National School of Industrial Art and the National Art School in Amsterdam. Harmen Meurs travelled frequently to France. He lived and worked in Wageningen, Amsterdam and in the Veluwe National Park. Made paintings, watercolours, etchings, drawings and lithographs of, at first, still lifes, landscapes, figures of farmers (farmers scene), and later he concentrated more on figures only. Because of his travels through France he was influenced by Expressionism and Kubism.
