Ernst Hildebrand was born in Falkenberg on the 8th of March 1833. (Germany) He was a student of Steffeck in Berlin. After his studies he became a proffessor at the School of Art in Karlsruhe in 1875 and in Berlin in 1880. Hildebrand joined the Berlin Academy of art in 1878 as a member. He was awarded medals in Berlin in 1887 and in Munich and Melbourne (Australia) in 1888. Work to be found in museum in Berlin and Cologne (Germany).
