Henri Edmond Cross, pseudonym for H.E. Delacroix, born in 1856 in Douai (France), he died in 1910 in Lavandou (France). From the age of ten years he followed drawinglessons in Lille. When he was twenty years old he moved to Paris, from 1890 on he stayed in the Var-region. Here he wellcomed his friends Signac, Van Rysselberghe, Vuillard, Bonnard a.o. In 1881, on advice from Bonvin, he changed his name to an English one. He had exhibitions in the Salon des Artistes Indépendants in Paris and he was very succesfull in the important galleries in Paris. Colour and light are used by this neo-impressionist with extreme sensitivity. His works are to be found in museums in New York, Paris, Geneva, Grenoble, Saint-Tropez, Douai, Toledo a.o.
