Kees Verwey, born in Amsterdam on April 20th 1900. He died in 1995. Lived and worked in Haarlem, The Netherlands (Holland). Pupil of H.F. Boot in Haarlem and of the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. Painter of oilpaintings and watercolours (also pastels). Kees Verwey uses different themes, a.o. portraits, figures and still-lifes. He specialised in still-lifes in which a certain pictureque disorder prevailed. Orgiginally late-impresssionist, later on more expressionist. He received the Rembrandt Award Leiden in 1961. His work can be found in many museums, a.o. Centraal Museum Utrecht, Haags Gemeentemuseum and the Frans Hals Museum Haarlem.
