hoet bekaert gallery was founded in an old abbey during the summer of 2003.during our stay there we focused more on curatorial projects and less on commercial shows. ambitious group-shows were held with artists such as Jason Rhoades, Sisley Xhafa, Kris Martin, Franky DC, Pascale Martine Tayou, Joost Conijn, Kendell Geers and many, many more..the main focus of hoet bekaert gallery is promoting, supporting and showing young contemporary artists, covering divers media such as painting, video, installation, photography and performance.after the summer of 2005 the gallery moved to an old factory building in the lively city of gent. this new site combines the clean, white museum-like cube with a more familiar touch to it due to the position of the kitchen inside of the gallery and the spacious garden with ancient pear-trees.hoet bekaert gallery wants to offer a wide range of possibilities to exhibiting artists, functioning as a laboratory for young contemporary art.when you do not manage to make it to our opening brunches on sundays, you always get a second chance as a selection of the works from the previous exhibition are shown on the completely renewed second floor of the gallery.hoet bekaert gallery participates frequently in international art fairs such as Art Rotterdam, Art Brussels, Art Forum Berlin, Frieze London and for the first time in Armory New York. jan hoet junior & delphine bekaert
