Description
Antonius Bernardus "Toon" Kelder was born in Rotterdam 1894 he died in the Hague 1973. He studied at the Rotterdam Art school. Toon Kelder lived and worked in Rotterdam, Paris, Madrid and after 1911 permanently in The Hague. He was a painter and a sculptor. He painted portraits, nudes, still lives and romantic phantasies. After 1946 Toon Kelder completely devoted himself to sculpturing. He had a solo exhibition in the Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum. Works by Toon Kelder in possession of the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Rijkscollectie and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
