Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen (KMSKA)
Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp
In the middle of the trendy Zuid district of Antwerp lies the Royal Museum of Fine Arts (Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, KMSKA for short), the art-historical museum of the Flemish Community. It is an impressive building that houses magnificent works of art.
The rich collections present a good picture of the history of artistic life in the Southern Netherlands and Belgium. Antwerp has a splendid collection of Baroque works by Rubens and his contemporaries, as well as works by 19th-century Salon artists and by the Modernist painters James Ensor and Rik Wouters. The museum shows the work of Flemish artists alongside works by foreign artists such as Jean Fouquet, Titian, Frans Hals, Auguste Rodin and Amedeo Modigliani, making for a surprising experience.
