Belgian skeleton mantel clock signed Boty Lefebvre à Liège circa 1800.
White marble base with fire-gilded case, enamel dial with Arabic numerals. This skeleton clock is signed on the dial Boty Lefebvre à Liège. Transparent center. Very finely cut blued hands and central second hand. 8 day weight driven movement with pin escapement. Real compensation pendulum with knife suspension after the Berthoud model. Spring barrel-driven half-hourly striking mechanism via a count wheel on the bell. Because the (half) pendulum has a counterweight at the top, it moves slowly, causing the second hand to indicate the true seconds.
HxWxD 50x 30x13 cm. Provenance: Sold at the Tefaf in 1995 by 'Crijns en Stender'.
