A Chinese grey earthenware polychrome bowl and cover, Han Dynasty Ceramics from China

Price: Price on request

Offered by E. Pranger Oriental Art

A grey earthenware bowl and cover with various pigments.

Unlike the pottery of Neolithic times, Han pottery was painted on biscuit already fired. This accounts for Han painted pottery often being denuded, at least partially, of its otherwise gorgeous pigments. For this reason painted pottery is said to have been made exclusively for burial purposes.
