A Famillie rose spittoon. Spittons which introduced in China during the Qing dynasty as the solution for spitting habits and were typical pieces belonging to the Chinese home. Decorated elegantly with flower motifs amongst leaves and branches, a fox and bird appear both on the base and inner rim. The underneath of the rim has a fanned appearance. Painted delicately with visible individual brush strokes, the spittion is an example of the delicate soft pink palette typical of famillie rose and opaque glaze.
