The origin of the garniture set is probably Dutch.
It became fashionable in the middle of the 17th century to place several vases together on top of cabinets or mantelpieces to embellish the interior.
The beautifully painted flower garlands in relief make this a luxurious and unusual version of a Dutch Delft garniture set.
The spotted smiling dogs on the lids are different and a funny detail.
