The almost identical decorations exhibit, the frequent in Delft depicted Chinoiserie decor, of the lightning motif combined with abstracted cloudscapes, flowering branches and flower- and leaf work in cartouches. The zigzag bands imagens footbridges from Japanese water gardens. Considering the numerous pieces, plates and dishes, this decoration was apparently popular and beloved. The yellow color applied is used to replace the gold color that we know of Imari style performances.
