Rectangular Wallplaque in Blue Delft Earthenware Rectangular Wallplaque in Blue Delft Earthenware

Rectangular earthenware Delft plaque depicting the personification of the sense with flowers in her hair holding a basket filled with flowers. Next to her is a hound and a vase filled with flowers and snakes. To the left we can see Mary Magdalen antointing Christs feet. To the right the creation of Adam.

Similar is the print by Maerten de Vos (1532 - 1603), published in the 16th century in Antwerp (then the center of the picture printing). Prints formed and important function in disseminating imagery and inspiration for other artists.
It is art historical very interesting to see how the 16th century prints found their imitation in the 18th century.
