A French Barometer with a flower-mahogany veneered case has a Gothic tympanum and is completely provided with a contour piping of palm wood.

The flower-mahogany veneered case has a Gothic tympanum and is completely provided with a contour piping of palm wood. The mercury reservoir is protected by an elegant fire-gilded bronze gate and under and above fire-gilded bronze ornaments. At the top a rectangular scale plate of silver-plated brass with a mechanism with an adjusting needle on the side. In the center of the case we see two gothic shaped plates of silver-plated brass with a mercury thermometer with a temperature indication in Celsius on the right side and an alcohol thermometer with a temperature indication in Fahrenheit on the left side. The thermometers are held with fire-gilded Medusa heads.
