The 8.7 cm enamelled dial has a Roman numeral surrounded by a minute ring and has blued steel Empire hands.
The platinum movement has a running time of eight days and must therefore be wound once a week. It has an anchor escapement and a silk suspension pendulum. It strikes a bell for whole and half hours by means of a locking disc.
The fire-gilded and patinated case was designed by the famous Bronzier Claude Galle. The vase in which the timepiece is placed is crowned by a whetstone on which Amor sharpenes his love arrows and Venus pours water over the whetstone. From the vase arises Amor and Venus and is supported with palm leaves on a square base supported by 4 fire-gilded legs.
