The grey marble columns rise from square plinths, embellished with gilt bronze heraldic devices, topped with two almost identical celestial globes. The plinths are each surmounted by four short pillars connected with guilded chains. The columns spring from a rectangular base with six bun feet and attractive gilded floral frieze.

The movement is suspended between two columns, topped with a statue of Minerva on a circular marble base. The eight day partly skeletonised striking movement ‘on-bell’.

The lovely multicoloured chapter ring with indicators for the hours, minutes, numbers of the month and days of the week. The very nice guilded pierced hands for the hours and the minutes. Two blue-steeled hands for the days of the week and numbers of the month.

The chapter ring signed Cellier a Paris.

The impressive fire-guilded, sun-burst pendulum bob is typical of the Louis XVI period.
