A French Louis XVI mantel clock portique Piolaine à Paris
Enamel dial with black Arabic numerals surrounded by minute dots and Arabic minute numerals. Fire gilded, engraved openwork brass hand with the French lily at the end of the hour hands. Signed in red "Piolaine à Paris".
8-day spring-driven movement with anchor escapement and pendulum with silk suspension. Half an hour bells by means of a locking disc.
The white marble plinth stands on eight fire-gilded bronze toll legs and is decorated with fire-gilded rosettes, panels and pearl edges. On the plinth are two columns with a Wedswood plaque in the middle and running upwards in a pyramid shape. In the middle of the two columns is the clockwork, which is crowned with a vase with a torch on top. Under the timepiece a floral bronze decoration.
