No. 126. A fine and rare ormolu urn mantel clock, cupid and classical draped female figures holding flowers strands, France Directoire ca. 1795-1800.
Finely cast, chased and gilt urn shaped case modelled with a putty and flanked by two classical draped female figures, their feet resting on a masqueron and holding flowers strands. Futher decortioned with various neo-classic style components: sphinxes, rams, grapes and grapevines. A white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, Directoire ormolu hour and minute hands.
Eight day movement with anchor recoil escapement, silk suspended pendulum and countwheel striking on a bell. Expressive and charming clock in an excellent condition.
